Recently, the International Battery Materials Association (IBA) has issued that Prof. Yang Yong of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Xiamen university would serve as the first Vice-Chairman of IBA from November 2021. This is the first time that a Chinese scholar has served in the managing team of IBA.
The International Battery Materials Association (IBA) established in the early 1970s is a well-known international academic organization in the field of battery materials. Its members include high-level battery material researchers from all over the world. The IBA Annual Conference is one of the most influential international academic conferences and platforms in the global battery field. The IBA-2021 Annual Conference, with Prof. Yang Yong as the Chairman, is organized by Xiamen University and the Battery Technology Association of Fujian Province. IBA-2021 invited many famous scholars from 16 countries including Oxford University, Cambridge University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of California, Kyoto University, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, etc, to give lots of high-level speeches. Through the approaches of on-line and on-site, nearly 400 scholars conducted in-depth exchanges on the theme of the "New Horizons and Large-scale Applications of Battery" conference. The effectiveness of IBA-2021 is highly appreciated by the guests and many colleagues.
Yong Yang is a distinguished professor in Chemistry in the State Key Lab for Physical Chemistry of Solid Surface at Xiamen University. He now also serves as the editor for J. Power Sources and the Board member of the International Meeting of Lithium Battery (IMLB). His main research interests are new electrode/electrolyte materials for Li/ Na-ion batteries, in situ spectroscopic techniques, and interfacial reaction mechanism study in electrochemical energy storage and conversion system. He has published more than 400 papers, including Nature Energy, Nature Nanotech., Sci. Adv., Nat. Commun., Energy & Environmental Sci., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., Adv. Energy Mater., etc. In addition, he served as leading editor for two books such as "Solid State Electrochemistry"(2017) and "NMR & MRI of Electrochemical Energy Storage Materials and Devices" (2021) and other monographs, and won the 2020 Technology Award of Battery Division, Electrochemical Society, 2017 Chinese Chemical Society Electrochemical Contribution Award, 2014 IBA Technology Achievement awards and so on.
