Wenhua Zuo currently serves as a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Xiamen University, China. He is a recipient of the National High-Level Young Talent Program and was awarded the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2021–2022). Prior to joining Xiamen University, he conducted postdoctoral research at Argonne National Laboratory from 2022 to 2026.

Professor Zuo’s research is centered on the innovative development of advanced functional materials for rechargeable batteries, with a particular emphasis on cutting-edge in-situ and operando characterization techniques under practical working conditions. To date, he has authored and co-authored over 70 peer-reviewed SCI journal articles. His publications have accumulated more than 7,000 non-self citations, contributing to an h-index of 32 in recognition of his sustained academic impacts.

Notably, he has published over 30 high-impact papers as the first or corresponding author (including joint authorship) in top-tier international journals across materials, chemistry, and energy fields. These influential works appear in Nature Reviews Materials, Nature Nanotechnology (3 publications), Nature Sustainability, Chemical Reviews, Joule, Nature Communications (3 publications), Advanced Materials (2 publications), Accounts of Chemical Research, Angewandte Chemie International Edition, and Energy & Environmental Science (2 publications).

Professor Zuo has been regularly invited to deliver oral presentations at more than ten major international academic conferences, including flagship meetings organized by the Materials Research Society (MRS), Electrochemical Society (ECS), and American Chemical Society (ACS). He has also presented key research progress at authoritative synchrotron light source user conferences, covering the Advanced Photon Source (APS), Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL), and Linac Coherent Light Source (LCLS).

In terms of research projects, he has participated in a series of high-profile research programs, including the National Key Research and Development Program of China, the U.S. Department of Energy Low-Cost Energy Storage for Sodium-ion Batteries (LENS) Consortium, and other key sodium-ion battery research initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of Energy.
